Why It Matters

The problem isn't Wix. It's which gateway can actually pay you.

Sound familiar?

  • Wix Payments shows as not available in my country, and I can't tell which of the listed providers will actually pay me.
  • PayPal processes the sale, but getting that money out to my bank here is the hard part.
  • The ready-made options work, but each one puts another company between me and my money.

How we fix it

  • We add your own gateway to your Wix site as a payment provider, so it appears in Wix's own Accept Payments settings.
  • Your customer pays on your gateway's secure page and comes straight back — the Wix order marks itself paid.
  • The money settles into your own bank account through your own merchant account, with no added intermediary.
Straight Answer

What is a Wix payment provider plugin?

A Wix payment provider plugin is a small piece of code inside your own Wix site that makes your local gateway appear in Wix's own Accept Payments settings, alongside the providers Wix lists for your country — PayPal, CXPay and Tilopay. Your customer pays on your gateway's secure page and returns to your store. Paperless Blueprint builds, tests and maintains it.

Your Options

Your four routes to taking card payments on Wix

Three of these are providers Wix already lists. The fourth is the one we build. All four are real options — which one fits depends on your bank and your volume.

Tilopay is the official First Atlantic Commerce bridge to Wix, announced 2021, and its fee is widely reported at 1 percent per transaction on top of your processor — Newsday, 2023.

How It Works

How we connect your gateway to your Wix checkout

  1. Scope your gateway

We confirm which local gateway or bank rail fits your market, and what your merchant account needs to support.

  2. Build the provider

We turn on Dev Mode in your Wix site and build a Payment Provider service plugin for your gateway.

  3. Connect and test

Your gateway appears in Accept Payments. You enter your credentials and we run a real live payment end to end.

  4. Go live and stay supported

Your checkout takes cards, orders mark themselves paid, and we maintain the code inside your site.

What's Included

What's included in your Wix payment gateway build

Payment provider service plugin

Built inside your own Wix site, so your gateway appears in Accept Payments.

Hosted-page checkout flow

Your customer pays on your gateway's secure page and returns to your store.

Automatic order status

A webhook marks the Wix order paid as soon as your gateway confirms the payment.

Refunds from your Wix dashboard

Issued from the Orders tab and passed straight to your gateway.

Live end-to-end testing

A real payment is run and reversed before you go live.

Ongoing maintenance

The code lives inside your site, so we stay on to keep it working.

Wix Payment Gateway (Caribbean) FAQs

No. Wix's own country list shows Wix Payments as not available in every English-speaking Caribbean market we checked, including Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, The Bahamas, Saint Lucia and the Cayman Islands. That does not mean you cannot take cards. Wix lists other providers in each of those markets, and any other gateway can be added to your site as a custom payment provider. Checked September 2026.

Across most of the region Wix lists PayPal, CXPay and Tilopay. Jamaica adds Paymentwall. Guyana has no CXPay listing, and Suriname is PayPal only. The list changes, so we check it against Wix's own country page before recommending anything. If none of the listed providers settles to the bank account you actually use, that is the point at which a custom payment provider starts to make sense.

You can process payments with PayPal, and many Caribbean businesses do. The catch is getting the money out. Keron Rose reported in 2022 that most Caribbean markets are not eligible for PayPal withdrawal access, so funds can sit in the balance. Stripe is a different problem — it is simply not among the providers Wix lists for these markets, so it is not an option on a Wix checkout here.

For any gateway that settles to a local bank, yes. An e-commerce merchant account is a separate product from your ordinary business account, and your bank has to approve it before card money can reach you. It is the step most often underestimated, so we scope it with you first. Some platform-style gateways can onboard you without a bank merchant account, and we will tell you which applies to your market.

Wix requires a Premium or Studio plan that supports payments — in practice, the Core plan or above. We do not quote Wix's prices here because they change; check the current figure on Wix's own pricing page. You will also need Dev Mode enabled on the site. That is included on those plans, and it is what lets the payment provider code live inside your site.

Your customer goes from your Wix checkout to your gateway's secure hosted page, pays, and comes straight back to your store. The order then marks itself paid automatically, because the gateway sends a confirmation back to your site. Refunds work the same way in reverse: you issue them from the Orders tab in your Wix dashboard and they are passed to your gateway.

Sometimes, yes. Ready-made options exist for some gateways and banks, and for a small store one of them may be all you need. What they have in common is that they put another company between you and your money, usually with a per-transaction fee on top of what your processor already charges. A provider built into your own site does not add that layer.

It depends almost entirely on your bank and your gateway, not on the code. Once your merchant account is approved and your credentials are issued, the build itself is the predictable part. We do not publish a price or a timeline here, because quoting one before we know which gateway and which bank you are working with would be a guess. Book a free call and we will scope it properly.

Yes — Shopify is where this work started. We have built and shipped 13 Caribbean gateway integrations on Shopify, covering banks and processors across Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and the wider region. It is the same gateway work and the same team; only the platform mechanism differs. If you are on Shopify rather than Wix, start at our Shopify payment gateway hub.

No. Paperless Blueprint is an independent web development agency. We are not a partner, agent, reseller or certified integrator of Wix, Fygaro, WiPay, PowerTranz, First Atlantic Commerce, Tilopay, CXPay or any bank, and nothing on this page should be read as an endorsement by them. We build and test the connection between the gateway account you hold and your own Wix store.

If you have no merchant account yet and only a handful of orders a month, one of the providers Wix already lists will probably serve you better and cost less to start. If you are pre-revenue and still testing whether people will buy, do not buy a custom build yet — take manual payments, prove the demand, then come back. We will tell you that on the call.
